Welcome

I am excited that you have chosen to view my classroom blog! The purpose of this blog is to recap what we have done in class throughout the week. I will also post important dates for the following week. This is mainly to give information to parents, however, there are links for students and a poll for them as well.

About Me

Hello! My name is Ms. Sutter and I am so excited to have your child in my class! I am from a small town in northwest Missouri, Westboro, Missouri. I lived on a farm growing up and had lots of animals. I graduated high school from Tarkio High School. I then went on to attend Drury University for a short time before transferring to Missouri State University.  I graduated from Missouri State University with my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I have always had a passion for helping and teaching others. I got married on August 10, 2013. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my husband, taking pictures of things in nature, and traveling to new places.  I am a pet lover; I have many cats and dogs. My dog, Dude, is pictured below.

I want to be a teacher to make a difference in the lives of students and to provide the environment for students to thrive and to be able to understand and retain information. In order to do that, the individual and the experience must be priorities. Progressivism and pragmatism were the philosophies that matched my beliefs the best. I decided that progressivism was the philosophy that best suited me because the focus is on students. I thought it was important that a main point of progressivism is learning through experiences. All aspects of this philosophy were focused on providing the best situation for students to learn, which made my decision clear; these aspects included the aim of education, the teaching methods, curricular emphasis, character development, and applicability.
