Welcome

I am excited that you have chosen to view my classroom blog! The purpose of this blog is to recap what we have done in class throughout the week. I will also post important dates for the following week. This is mainly to give information to parents, however, there are links for students and a poll for them as well.

Technology Blessings!

This week we had the honor of having a SMART Board placed in our classroom. By having this piece of equipment, I can improve the way I teach. I will be able to make learning a lot more interactive as well as more interesting. Instead of just looking at textbooks and studying that way, there are many games, activities, exercises, and more that we will be able to do on the SMART Board.  Throughout the year as the children get more comfortable with using it, we will be able to do more. Each morning one of the students will write the date on the SMART Board for the rest of the class to see during opening meeting. What have the childrens' responses been about the SMART Board at home? Do they like it or dislike it? Does it confuse them?
Our classroom has also been given a classroom computer for the students. This computer will be used for educational games to assist the learning process as well as assessing how well the children can use the computer. As a 21st century teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure that my students understand technology and can use it efficiently. About twice a quarter, we will have quizzes on the computer to assess content learning as well as technological learning. How many families have computers at home? Does your child have access to the computer(s)?

Welcome to Kindergarten!

This first week of school was wonderful! We have a great class and I am looking forward to getting to know all of the students better and watching them grow! I will be tracking personal growth throughout the year so it will be easy to show what the students knew at the beginning of the year compared to what the children know at the end of the year.

This week we covered our daily routine, as well as toured the school. We learned where the art room, computer lab, playground, and cafeteria are. We also made the classroom rules together. Has your child had any questions about where anything is in the building? Are there any other questions that may have not been addressed?
