This week we
had the honor of having a SMART Board placed in our classroom. By having
this piece of equipment, I can improve the way I teach. I will be able to make
learning a lot more interactive as well as more interesting. Instead of just
looking at textbooks and studying that way, there are many games, activities,
exercises, and more that we will be able to do on the SMART Board. Throughout the year as the children get more
comfortable with using it, we will be able to do more. Each morning one of the
students will write the date on the SMART Board for the rest of the class to
see during opening meeting. What have the childrens' responses been about the SMART Board at home? Do they like it or dislike it? Does it confuse them?
Our
classroom has also been given a classroom computer for the students. This
computer will be used for educational games to assist the learning process as
well as assessing how well the children can use the computer. As a 21st
century teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure that my students
understand technology and can use it efficiently. About twice a quarter, we
will have quizzes on the computer to assess content learning as well as
technological learning. How many families have computers at home? Does your child have access to the computer(s)?
